Chapter 49 - Return
The next morning, Hitori allowed herself to sleep in a bit, making sure she was well-rested before she finally decided it was time to get up. As she sat up in bed, she ran some chakra through her body, mostly her head, to help ease the hangover but it wasn't as bad as she expected. After a trip to the bathroom, she drank a full bottle of water and refilled it before putting it on the table, next to her pack to remind her to put it in there later.
She didn't worry about breakfast, as she planned to have lunch before she left and stock up on some snacks for the trip. After she cleaned up and got changed, it was about time
Chapter 48 - Separation
One year and two weeks later…
"Excellent work. Just make sure that you check his blood pressure every hour to be on the safe side." Hitori calmly advised the nurse before she stepped away from the patient's bed, and went straight over to the nearest basin to wash her hands.
Today had been a hard slog, with a full cell of shinobi coming in with heavy trauma, another shinobi was severely poisoned and even a civilian had experienced a severe allergic reaction. They had gone into anaphylactic shock, but two of her students dealt with it superbly and she would make a full recovery.
As she approached the next bedsi
Chapter 47 - Embrace
Itachi didn't even realise that he had fallen asleep until he woke up to an unfamiliar smell. It wasn't bad; in fact it was a sweet smell, but it didn't seem familiar. Reaching out for Hitori, she felt that where she had been laying before only to find it cold. She must have been gone for a little while.
After a good stretch, his muscles still feeling weakened from their earlier passionate exertion, he headed out to find her in the kitchen with one of his t-shirts on. Even though he was a bit taller than her, it barely covered her buttocks, which he noticed were bare. Silently, he leaned against the wall just outside hi
Chapter 44 - Bloodshed
"Come in." Itachi heard Sakura's voice permitting him entry from behind her office door and walked in. One of the nurses was going over a chart with her, and they talked for a moment before the nurse left after giving him a polite smile. "Have a seat." Sakura gestured to the chair and made herself more comfortable too.
"How are you?" he asked politely, as he sat himself down.
"Uhh, I'm okay." Sakura's tone caused him to narrow his eyes and she sighed and continued after a moment. "Sasuke and I had a weird moment this morning. He was here for a check up and he was rather forthcoming and really nice to me. I think he's
Chapter 43 - Heartache
A knock on her classroom door disrupted her lecture on poison ingredients and she permitted them entry. It was a hospital orderly whom she vaguely recognised.
"My apologies, but we have an emergency and we need your help." He spoke with urgency and she immediately stepped out from behind her desk and walked towards the door.
"Everyone, follow along. Make sure you stay out of the way."
The orderly took her up to the operating room where there was already a number of staff inside preparing for an emergency procedure. She quickly changed into some scrubs, then washed her hands and got her gown and mask on before headin
Chapter 42 - Adjusting
Hitori was currently heading to the Mizukage Tower with Chojuro, and they headed straight into her office when they arrived. Chojuro took his normal place at the Mizukage's side as Hitori bowed low on entry and approached her desk.
"Good afternoon." Hitori gave her a nod in greeting and she smiled in return.
"Good afternoon, Hitori. It seemed everyone was having a good time earlier at the training grounds." Her voice was calm and held no hint of what she was thinking so Hitori just ran with it.
"Yes, that was the idea. To blow off some steam and to develop bonds and improve teamwork. I've assigned them to work at th
Chapter 41 - Alone
Itachi yawned as he sat at his desk in ANBU HQ. He had exhausted himself today with three emergency deployments and four normal assignments given, as well as piles of reports to go through. He had also put his new training regime into place, and had been working with some of the newer recruits to further develop their skill set. He had worked about 60 hours this week, and almost as much last week. Sasuke was now out of the hospital, and he had spent as much of his free time with him as he could. He wouldn't go back into mission rotation for another month at least, by Sakura's orders, and she would probably try to get him t
